A high surf advisory has been extended for east-facing shores of the Big Island.
Strong trade winds will continue to produce advisory-level surf along east-facing shores through 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to Honolulu-based National Weather Service forecasters. Wave heights of 7 feet to 12 feet are forecast.
Forecasters cautioned of strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous. Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
